The *Not So* Pretty Side of Business
Before I hop into some helpful tips, I wanted to let you know we’ve added a brand new collection to our gallery!! It’s a collection that all of our product-selling members will love, as it’s featuring some pretty packaging!
OK, onto the helpful tips...
Being an entrepreneur can sound pretty glamorous. You get to work from home, set your own hours, no horrible boss, and we can’t forget about all of that pretty stationary we see on #bossbabes Instragram feeds!
But in truth, things are not so easy or so pretty. Burnout, level of confidence, and loneliness (plus a myriad of other things!) also come with the entrepreneurial package.
After suffering through some health setbacks earlier this year, I realized how important it is to take care of ourselves!
Today, I am sharing 4 tips that might help you on your quest for balance:
Tip # 1: Set working hours
One of the perks of being an entrepreneur is that we can work whenever and wherever! But what often happens is that we end up working way beyond a standard 8 hour work day. Instead, give yourself the freedom to set your own hours.
Most productive at 6 AM? Then get started bright and early! Need a midday break? Great, clear out a few hours in the early afternoon for that yoga class!
What’s important is that you build a schedule that fits your lifestyle, and stick to it! Your body and mind knows exactly what it needs to be healthy and successful!
Tip # 2: Don’t forget to socialize
Being a boss babe in 2018 means a lot of screen time! With no watercooler colleague meetups in sight, it can quickly become just a gal, her music subscription, and her trusty laptop. As entrepreneurs who work alone or on small (and often virtual) teams, it’s important to build your own work culture.
Be sure to schedule a lunch with a friend or business pal, head out to those networking events, join a mastermind or a book club. Make sure you’re making an effort to socialize in real life!
Tip # 3: Get a hobby!
It’s so easy for an entrepreneur to focus all of their energy around growing their business. Time or money invested elsewhere seems to be a waste. But it’s so important to invest in yourself as a person!
So rather than buying another business book, pick up that new best seller! Instead of taking a business centric course, take a cooking class. Get out there and do something you love!
Tip # 4: Celebrate your accomplishments
In my opinion, this is one of the most important tips! Being your own boss means that you are not getting a pat on the back from your colleague or getting recognized at a team meeting. When you hit a business milestone or complete a project, be sure to CELEBRATE! Grab your friends and go out for a night on the town, stay at home with your hubby, order-in your fav meal and pop a bottle of champagne, or treat yourself with your favourite spa treatment!
Be sure to recognize your own hard work, dedication and general awesomeness!
We hope you find these tips helpful!
